The 4 Travel Photography Cameras From Sony
Travel photography is loved by many. Everyone wants to go to a distant city, capture its culture through traditions or food, and come back with memories that remind them to return to the place again. Some people achieve this in between their jobs, while others make a living as travel photographers. Either way, the genre has imploded to reach new heights, and one’s camera is quite important to get where they wish to go. To help such individuals, we have created this round-up of Sony cameras that are not just compact, but also give you the desired result.
Sony RX1r II
Sony RX1r Mk II is a compact full-frame camera ideal for travel photography when you need high resolution images. The camera features 42MP BSI CMOS sensor, BIONZ X image processor, a 35mm f2 lens and low pass filter. The camera offers 399 AF points, full 1080p video, and ISO up to 102400. The device has excellent image quality, fast focusing, great building and weight, and a good battery life. Although pricy, the Sony device will not disappoint you.
Sony a6400
The Sony a6000 series has been a favourite amongst APS-C shooters. What makes the a6400 the best for travel photography is not just its size but it’s 24MP sensor, it’s different profile pictures, and 14-bit RAW. The camera has various creative styles, 425 autofocus points, scene detection, 4K video recording, and ISO up to 102,400. It is compact and lightweight, has excellent image quality, and improved real-time eye AF and tracking. As we states in our review, “While it’s certainly not an entry-level camera, the Sony a6400 should still be within reach for anyone looking for a solid midrange interchangeable lens camera, mirrorless or otherwise. The segment-leading autofocus technology that Sony’s incorporated into the a6400 makes the camera an interesting value proposition, although the omission of the excellent in body image stabilization found within the older yet higher tiered A6500 will surely be a deal breaker for some.”
For the record too, we’re very lukewarm about the a6700 as well.
Sony a7cR

The Sony a7CR is another compact travel photography companion that comes with a 61MP full frame sensor. It has 15+ stops of dynamic range, a dedicated AI processing unit, and 693 autofocus points. The camera also has 8fps in mechanical shutter mode, 16 bit RAW output, and AI functions of the Sony a7R V. Speak about its performance, we wrote, “With a 60MP full-frame sensor, you’re going to be able to make some of the best prints you’ve ever made with this camera’s output. The colors, depth, and dynamic range are all truly fantastic.” In fact, you also get lovely high ISO output.
Sony RX100 V

The RX100 V may be an older model, but it’s size and perfomance makes it perfect for thos who want a point and shoot. It houses a 20.1MP 1-inch exmor RS BSI CMOS sensor, a BIONZ X image processor, and internal UHD 4K video with S-Log2 Gamma. The camera also has a 24-70 f1.8 lens, 315 AF points, and a 2.36 million OLED pop-up EVF. In our review, we spoke about its fantastic image quality. We also added, “More importantly, it’s a camera designed for the digital shooter more so than the one who may want to make big prints from a vacation.”
