Delta Photo Club’s next online workshop aims to help travelling photographers tell authentic stories.
On Wednesday, Feb. 25, the club is hosting a 7:30 p.m. Zoom presentation by Seattle-based photographer and educator Dave Julian, who will explore his unique approach to cultural travel and street photography.
“Cultural travel photography is a genre that focuses on creating compelling and organic narratives that connect audiences with the essence of place and the humanity within it,” reads the event description. “It moves beyond standard touristic imagery and requires deep cultural sensitivity, genuine curiosity, authenticity, respect and ethics.”
Through his most compelling images, Julian will “share his philosophy and insights on ethical foundation, cultural immersion, human connection, storytelling, as well as vision and creativity.”
A long time member of Fujifilm’s X/GFX Creators Team, Julian leads cultural travel and street photography workshops in The Palouse and elsewhere in Washington State, as well as in Vietnam, Cuba and India. He is also a lead instructor for the University of Washington Photography Certificate program, sharing his expertise with over 250 emerging photographers since 2014, and leads workshops with Santa Fe Workshops, Maine Media Workshops, and other organization.
As a photographer and educator, Julian enjoys helping others explore their creative vision and improve their craft. His work appears in many publications including Nikon World, Outside, National Geographic Traveler, FujiLove and podcasts that include Beginner Photography, Hit The Streets and Photo Conversations.
